Staff Psychiatrist – (Mental Health Care) PT/FT

Job Responsibilities
As a Psychiatrist, your scope of practice will include evaluation, diagnosis, medication assessments and adjustment, patient education, treatment planning, and development of individual ongoing care plans for all patients. All treatment must be in accordance with agency and clinical policies, and you must keep all patient information strictly confidential.
Your specific duties in this Psychiatrist role include:
- Providing short- and long-term psychotherapy and the concurrent use of medications
- Providing counseling for individuals, families, and groups
- Supervising a multi-disciplinary team of allied health professionals in the treatment of patients
- Establishing a database on patients by obtaining an appropriate health, developmental, and psychosocial history, as well as through screening and diagnostic procedures and tests
- Monitoring medication and dosages and adjusting as necessary
- Providing treatment according to APA Practice Guidelines, as well as accepted agency standards and protocols
- Assisting in the management of referred and/or complex problems with other members of the agency and community health nurses, mental health workers, and other community resources
- Working in a collaborative and appropriate manner with other agency providers, clinical support staff, and administrative personnel
- Recognizing and utilizing opportunities for health education for patients and families
- Maintaining accurate, complete, comprehensive, legible medical records, and returning all assigned charts or patient data (labs, reports, forms, etc.) to Medical Records in a timely fashion
- Documenting treatment plans and any treatment plan changes in the patient chart
- Providing night and weekend coverage in rotation with colleagues, as required
- Provide coverage in health center during leaves of fellow staff, as required

Job Requirements
As a Psychiatrist, you must exhibit a high degree of engagement and empathy as well as embodying the highest ethical standards. You must also display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to interact well with residents, staff members, and family members.
Specific qualifications for the Psychiatrist role include:
- Board certification
- Current and valid Connecticut state medical license
