Public Health Intern/Volunteer

Family Centers Healthcare seeks an energetic, compassionate, and ambitious individual interested in going into Public Health or Health Care Administration. Intern would have the opportunity to work within a Community Health Center and School Based Health Center and performing a variety of different outreach in the community. Family Centers is a non-profit organization offering health care, education and human services to children, adults, and families living in Lower Fairfield County. The health centers provide primary healthcare, dental and mental health services to those living in Greenwich and Stamford Public Housing communities and the surrounding neighborhoods.
Responsibilities include:
- Community outreach – Grassroots marketing, tabling events, door to door knocking, meeting community partners at other events in Greenwich and Stamford
- Administrative tasks with the front desk and outreach teams such as referral follow up, connecting patients with specialists, and scheduling appointments
- Participating in outreach events and partnering with other agency programs
- QA/QI projects (communication, referrals, resource access, quality control logging)
- Demonstrates professional, courteous, and respectful attitude during interactions with patients and guests of the health center
- Attends all training and outreach events
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Health & Substance Misuse Educator, and Health Center Manager
Required Qualifications:
- Bi-lingual in Spanish required
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Interested to learn Medical terminology and outreach marketing practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer literacy
- Require transportation and driver’s license
- Multitaskers and flexibility with assignments and occasional weekend availability
