Family Centers Inc., School Based Health Centers (SBHC) has an opportunity for a part time Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist or Psych APRN to provide psychiatric consulting and treatment services necessary for the promotion of optimal health for middle and high school students.
Family Centers Inc., SBHC Program is looking for an experienced, energetic and compassionate Psychiatric Consulting Professional to provide hourly psychiatric services to five school-based outpatient clinics in Stamford, CT.
Position is part time hourly rotating weekly throughout each clinic. Psychiatric schedule and appointments are maintained by Office Support staff.
The SBHC Psychiatric Consulting Professional will provide consultation to SBHC students, families and staff. As a consultant to staff, the Psychiatric Consulting Professional will meet with SBHC social workers and nurse practitioners individually and in groups about particularly challenging students or topics. These consultations may focus upon diagnostic clarification and/or treatment planning.
As a consultant to families the Psychiatric Consulting Professional is available to provide diagnostic and treatment services to students in collaboration with the SBHC social worker’s treatment plan. The Psychiatric Consulting Professional can provide diagnostic clarification, medication evaluation, medication management and treatment planning consultation.
Qualified candidates will have the following:
o Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited university or APRN license with specialty in psychiatry.
o An unrestricted license in Connecticut
o State of Connecticut controlled substance and DEA numbers
o Experience working with children and adolescents
o Medical malpractice insurance in addition to that offered by the agency

Located in six middle and high schools in Stamford, the School Based Health Centers (SBHC) provide medical assessments, physicals, screenings, dental care, mental health counseling and other services with over 5,000 student visits each year. It is the mission of the SBHC to help students learn about practices that promote their health and well-being. Each center emphasizes early identification and intervention to prevent serious physical and mental health concerns. The Centers are licensed by the State of Connecticut, and are staffed by nurse practitioners, licensed clinical social workers, dental professionals and office support staff that specialize in child/adolescent health.
