As a member of the Grants team, the Director of Grants is responsible for working with agency leadership to develop high quality proposals that are consistent with Wheeler’s mission and strategic direction. Key responsibilities include preparation of public and private (federal, state, foundation) grant proposals and applications, including grant writing, program development, and process management, in addition to researching, identifying, developing, and responding to grant opportunities in the targeted areas of primary care and integrated primary care and behavioral health. The position will also support development of technical proposals targeting commercial payers and provide technical assistance and training for agency staff around the grant process.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
BA/BS degree in liberal arts and sciences field plus a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible related grant writing experience with public and private (federal, state, and foundations) grant proposals and applications is required. A master’s degree is preferred. Experience in the targeted areas of primary care and integrated primary care and behavioral health is preferred.
Demonstrated experience and success writing state, federal, or foundation proposals and/or technical proposals targeting commercial payers. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, critical thinking skills, ability to develop grant proposals adhering to RFP guidelines, attention to detail and strong ability to multitask and prioritize competing tasks. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat- electronic grants management and submission systems (i.e Grants.gov, eRA Commons), and other applications. Demonstrated ability to successfully work with a diverse population and stakeholders at various levels.
