Understanding and Addressing the Multiple Roots of Addiction

The Community Health Center Association of CT will be offering a workshop on addiction called “Understanding and Addressing the Multiple Roots of Addiction.”
Participants will learn about what addiction is and what the root causes are. The workshop will explore the neurological, experiential, and social underpinnings of behavioral and substance addictions, with a focus on the impact of childhood trauma and neglect. The workshop will include a viewing of the CT based documentary: “Uprooting Addiction.”
Hope Payson, LCSW, LADC and Daryl McGraw will be conducting the workshop. Hope spcializes in the treatment of addiction and trauma and has over 20 years of experience working in a variety of community mental health settings. Daryl is the CEO of Formerly Inc, Connecticut’s first criminal justice reentry reform consultant agency.
This program will provide 2.5 Continuing Education Credit Hours for Social Workers, Nurses, Mental Health Counselors, and Psychologists through Commonwealth Educational Seminars.
