Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) Workshop

The Community Health Center Association of CT (CHCACT) will be hosting a Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) Workshop on Thursday, April 4th from 2:00 – 4:00 pm at the Marcia K. Petrillo Community Center in Wethersfield CT. At the workshop attendees will learn;
•How Federally Qualified Health Center staff can become transgender allies and how to better serve that population
•The stigma and discrimination faced by the transgender population
•How certain health conditions, like HIV/ AIDS, affect transgender individuals
•How to correctly address transgender individuals
•The needs of individuals having gender reassignment surgery and types of surgeries
Speaker: Identifying as a transgender woman, Rosa Lee Klaneski is an advocate for individual rights for all of the queer community. She attended Amherst College where she studied mathematics, physics, and played men’s rugby. She graduated in 2005 from Trinity College in Hartford, CT, with a B.A. in Women, Gender, and Sexuality as the 2005 Presidential Fellow in her discipline, having been honored with the IDP Council Award and the Sicherman Prize. She received her M.A. in Public Policy Analysis from Trinity in 2009.
