Cultural Understanding and Sensitivity in Health Care

October 20, 2017 @ 8:00 am - 12:30 pm

CT Oral Health Initiative (COHI) is offering an interactive course for all dental, medical, and mental health providers to discuss the importance of health equity and the need for medical interpretation services in health care.  Participants will have the opportunity to examine their own and others’ prejudices, and how they affect their practices. They will also hear lessons learned from a dentist who practices in a multi-cultural setting. Our presenters are from the Hispanic Health Council, the UCONN Health Center, Language Link and DHMAS Office of Multicultural Healthcare Equality.

Participants will be awarded five (5) CEUs at the completion of the course.  It will satisfy the new requirements for continuing education on cultural competence fro Dental Hygienists beginning 10/1/2017 and found in Public Act No. 17-146 and Dentists as well as other licensed health professionals in CT must complete for license renewal.
