This Week in CHCACTivities
Starting this week, CHCACT will be hosting four regional meetups for Certified Application Counselors (CACs) to debrief about the most recent Open Enrollment season. All 17 of the health centers in CT have on-site CACs that help people enroll in HUSKY/Medicaid and Access Health CT insurance plans. CHCACT facilitates training and technical assistance for CACs, by troubleshooting individual cases and statewide systemic issues. At these meetups, CHCACT will gather feedback from the CACs about what can be done to resolve these issues and improve processes going into the next enrollment season.
Attendees will also learn more about the Service to Improve Community Health (STICH) AmeriCorps Program and how Health Insurance Literacy (HIL) sessions can help health center patients and members in the community. STICH members utilize the CMS Coverage to Care (C2C) curriculum to explain how understanding health insurance, not just having it, impacts an individual’s ability to live a long and healthy life. We are excited for the opportunity to explore best practices for how CACs and STICH members can collaborate around the open enrollment season.
