Organization represents 16 community health centers that serve more than 376,000 patients annually
CHESHIRE – Thursday, November 16, 2017 – The Community Health Center Association of Connecticut (CHCACT) announced today it has hired Ken Lalime – a leader in the Connecticut health care community for the past four decades – as its new Chief Executive Officer. He replaced longtime CEO Evelyn Barnum, who has retired. He will officially begin his role as the new CEO on November 27th.

CHCACT is the professional association which represents 16 of the state’s 17 Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), community health centers which provide primary, dental and behavioral health care to more than 376,000 Connecticut residents each year, many of whom otherwise cannot afford quality health care.
Mr. Lalime has a long and accomplished history with Connecticut-based health care organizations, most recently as the Principal of KRLHealth, working with public and private sector clients on issues of health policy, payment reform, risk assessment & mitigation, network development and patient-centered approaches to population health management. Prior to that he served as CEO of HealthyCT where he was responsible for overseeing the start up and growth of the organization. HealthyCT provided health care coverage for over 40,000 CT residents, many of whom were previously uninsured. HealthyCT was an active participant within the Connecticut Insurance Exchange marketplace as well as the commercial markets. He also spent many years in leadership positions at the Connecticut State Medical Society IPA and Norwalk Hospital.
“As someone who has spent his career working in the health care field in Connecticut, I am honored to be chosen to lead such a critically important association as CHCACT, an organization with a tireless mission of helping to provide reliable, affordable and quality health care coverage to those who need it the most. Evelyn Barnum has done an amazing job of expanding the group’s scope and focus, and it will be a privilege to build on her legacy of success,” Mr. Lalime said.
James H. Maloney, JD, Chair of CHCACT’s Board of Directors as well as President/CEO of one of the 16 FQHCs it represents (Connecticut Institute For Communities/Greater Danbury Community Health Center), said: “Ken’s breadth of experience in health care leadership puts CHCACT in exactly the right hands. He is the right person to keep our organization moving forward and succeeding every day on its mission to ensure access to affordable, quality health care for those in Connecticut who need it the most,” Mr. Maloney said.
Mr. Lalime was chosen following a national search led by well-respected search firm ZurickDavis. He is a 1979 graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy.
