The big news this week at CHCACT is that our Chief Executive Officer Evelyn Barnum has announced that she will be retiring this November, after twenty years at the helm of our association!

Evelyn’s commitment to the mission of CHCACT and health centers has shown in her strong knowledge base and her embrace of best practices in both clinical and administrative operations. A national search has begun for her successor. Read more here.

When any organization faces the retirement of a long-time leader, it can lead to uncertainty about that organization’s future. However, here at CHCACT, we have been preparing for this transition, internally with our dedicated staff, and with our engaged Board and community partners as well.

We have examined how our sister organizations across the country are structured; had fruitful discussions about our mission, vision and values; and analyzed how to meet the needs of both health centers and patients in our state, particularly during this time of upheaval in the health care system.

There is no doubt in my mind that CHCACT will be well-positioned to continue its good works once Evelyn begins her new phase of life this Fall.
