Clinical Excellence

Summary of the CIC

The Clinical Excellence Program of the Community Health Center Association of Connecticut (CHCACT) provides technical assistance to Connecticut community health centers (CHCs) with the goal of ensuring access, quality, and continuity of health care in order to improve the health status of the community served by the CHCs. CHCACT’s Clinical Excellence Program is advised by the Clinical Issues Committee (CIC). The CIC is represented by a clinical leader from each CHC in the state and meets bi-monthly.

Vision of the CIC

To provide quality: Clinicians want access to the latest research information and tools in order to improve quality of care.

To collaborate with a network of peers: Clinicians want a peer network where they can share best practices, receive advice, and ask questions.

To encourage communication with all community health centers in Connecticut: Clinicians want a network within which they can share and receive the most current clinical information.

Goals of the CIC

To share and develop tools, methods, practices, and resources and identify benchmarks and guidelines that help community health center clinicians provide quality care to their patients.

To create a vehicle for education and communication.

To support the concept and development of community-based health care as a unique clinical discipline.

To advocate for underserved persons.

Share resources and information about state activities, and identify problems and community needs.

To act as a conduit between community health center staff and CHCACT staff by bringing feedback to and from the CIC as representative of their respective organization.
