New Access Point -- Vernon Community Health Services
State Representative Claire Janowski, Mayor Dr. Ellen Marmer, Congressman Joe Courtney and State Representative Joan Lewis all were there to cut the ribbon at the new Vernon Community Health Services at 3 Prospect Street, Rockville. Medical and dental services will be available beginning in early September.


Access Granted -- The Public Payoff
The report by the National Association of Community Health Centers, the Robert Graham Center and Capital Link finds that community health centers are a good investment for a health system that needs high quality, low cost care for millions of uninsured or underinsured persons. Medical costs at community health centers were 41% lower when compared with other providers, saving between $9.9 - $17.6 billion per year. Community health centers generate $12.6 billion per year towards the economy, employing a workforce of 143,000 in poor communities. Moreover, community health centers reduce health disparities by offering culturally sensitive, individualized care for all.
