Access Granted -- The Public Payoff
The report by the National Association of Community Health Centers,
the Robert Graham Center and Capital Link finds that community health
centers are a good investment for a health system that needs
high quality, low cost care for millions of uninsured or underinsured
persons. Medical costs at community health centers were 41% lower when
compared with other providers, saving between $9.9 - $17.6 billion per year.
Community health centers generate $12.6 billion per year towards the economy,
employing a workforce of 143,000 in poor communities. Moreover, community health
centers reduce health disparities by offering culturally sensitive,
individualized care for all.
