Dental Director

Position Description:
 

POSITION SUMMARY:     Responsible for the administration of dental care.  Also responsible for assuring the adequacy of dental care systems, developing dental protocols and supervise the dental team.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

1.          Ensure compliance with organizational, policies, procedures and protocols.  Acts upon patient grievances of dental nature in accordance with the grievance policy and procedures.

 

2.          Develop and updates protocols, policies and procedures within the dental department.

 

3.          Assess on needs and develop plans for the dental department.

 

4.          Participate in the development and review of the dental budget.

 

5.          Develops and participate in all Quality Assurance activities relating to dental practice.

 

6.          Oversees and assist in planning and executing a comprehensive program of preventive dentistry.

 

7.          Review & approve staff time cards, and time off requests.  Monitor and report the progress of the dental component, recommends changes to the Medical/Executive Director, appraises staff of their performance.

 

8.          Participate in Dental staff recruitment, selection, orientation and dismissal.

 

9.          Attend staff and management meetings.

 

10.      Maintain inventory and order all supplies & equipment for the dental department.

 

11.      Coordinate repair and servicing of dental equipments.

12.      Provisions of basic/advanced dental care which include exam and diagnosis, prophys, restorations, construction of prosthesis, extractions, root canal treatment and preventive education.

 

13.      Maintain accurate, timely and up-to-date patient information, records, logs and reports.

 

14.      Make appropriate referral to hospitals and/or outside providers to aid in the treatment of the patients.

 

15.      To comply with governmental safety, health rules and regulations.

 

16.      To perform other duties and required.

 

OTHER RESPONSIBLITIES:

 

1.          Perform other work-related duties, as assigned.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

 

1.        Dental Degree from an accredited dental school.

 

2.        Current license to Practice Dentistry in the State of Connecticut.

 

3.        State & Federal prescription licenses.

 

4.        Ability to organize and deliver dental health care.

 

5.        Past managerial experience or academic equivalence.
