Things You Can Do to Avoid the Flu
There are things you can do to protect yourself against seasonal flu viruses and the 2009 H1N1 flu, also known as the Swine Flu. For more detailed information about Influenza Viruses, please visit http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/qa.htm.
Take these everyday steps to protect your health:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.
- Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
- Follow public health advice regarding school closures, avoiding crowds and other social distancing measures.
